The Retreat prides itself on being a part of preparing participants for their next step, wherever they may currently be. We're thrilled to see that so many of last year's participants have been accepted into top music schools:

Myles Blakemore (BM SMU)  - Manhattan School of Music, MM Orchestral Performance program to study with Per Brevig
Michael Ross (BM Mich St Univ) - Carnegie Mellon School of Music MM program to study with Peter Sullivan
Morgan Fite (BM Memphis and Rutgers) - Montclair State University Performer's Certificate program to study with George Curran
Jack Noble (MM Juilliard) - Carnegie Mellon School of Music Artist Diploma program to study with Peter Sullivan and Murray Crewe
Luke Perzyk (BM Oakland) - Southern Methodist University MM program to study with John Kitzman
Omar Elmusa (HS) - Western Michigan University BM program to study with Steve Wolfinbarger

And our very own Retreat Intern Steve Gellersen has been accepted into the Doctoral Program at Michigan State University to study with Ava Ordman.

Master Class & Audition Tour

Third Coast Trombone Retreat faculty members John Sebastian Vera and Nicholas Schwartz will be traveling to Pennsylvania and Ohio next week to present four master classes as well as hear live auditions for this summer's retreat. The master classes are free and open to the public. See dates and venues below.


Wednesday, March 25: Duquesne University Low Brass Studio at Heinz Hall - 6:30-7:30pm

Friday, March 27: Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School - 10am

Monday, March 30: University of Akron, Band Hall - 12pm

Tuesday, March 31: Carnegie Mellon University - 1-2pm, Skibo, 2nd Floor

Retreat News: Introducing Conductor and Collaborative Pianist, Daniela Candillari

We're happy to announce the addition of conductor and collaborative pianist, Daniela Candillari to the 2015 Third Coast Trombone Retreat Staff!

Native of Serbia, Daniela brings a wealth of musical experience to the festival. She is in high demand in the music field all over the world. in about every way imaginable from composition to vocal coaching to performing to conducting.

 She will conduct the Anthony P. Hopkins Memorial Trombone Choir as well as perform with guest artist and student soloists. She currently resides in New York City.
